Sometimes I take to the stage alone, like this:
A year in Paris spent studying the unique and haunting resonances of the double bass yielded about 10-12 of these pieces – a melting pot of voice, harmonics, low grit, groove, poetry, prayer – not quite pop music, not quite Lieder, not quite folk. I don’t know what this stuff is, but after 8 months of writing and performing it, I decided it was high time to record – and other people thought so too:
In the fall, I tracked about half the album at Electric Wilburland Studio in Newfield, NY. And there’s more on the way – keep an eye out for a new solo bass/voice release sometime in early spring. It will be named after the most beautiful two blocks you’ll ever walk.
